“Maakhaven” is a workshop complex in Laakhaven, in The Hague. Once home to the Batavian Oil Company (later Shell), now this historical, industrial building is a place for creative entrepreneurs, artists, designers and craftsmen. This diversity of the makers creates a large network, giving opportunity for interesting collaborations.
Maakhaven was founded in 2001, and recently it transformed into an independent, permanent workshop complex. There are 45 -mostly self build- workshops, studios and work spaces in the building, and there are also spaces available for temporary projects and events.
