The artist collective ANNASTATE takes visitors on another walk through Moerwijk during the Day of Architecture. Last winter the eight young Russian and Dutch artists organised the first enthusiastically received “winter walk” through their neighbourhood, that was built in the years 1945-1960.
Spokesman Trijntje Noske: “We all studied Fine Arts at the KABK. Our cooperation based on kinship and friendship, plus our similar vision in art, received a great boost thanks to art-centre Stroom and the Municipality of The Hague: we were able to settle down in an old school building at Willem Dreespark 102 in Moerwijk.”
The artist initiative ANNASTATE is looking for the human connection in art through participatory projects and social interventions. “We are constantly on the lookout for beauty around us, also in Moerwijk, a neighbourhood that has been developing and changing ever since its been put on the map during the post-war period. We want to expose the hidden treasures in the neighbourhood through our own vision.” Two walks will be performed on the 15th of June. One walk in the morning and one walk in the evening. “We now want to organise a walk in the same spirit, but with a different character. Once again we will take the participants through the neighbourhood in a creative way, but this time in a more elaborate fashion. In addition, there will be an exhibition in the building of ANNASTATE, showing the work of the artists it houses.
Besides the show, the collective prepares a vegan/vegetarian dinner with drinks, based on donation.
