Rietveld Schröder huis

Rietveld Schröder huis

Friday 19 May – Sunday 21 May:  This remarkable film about Rietveld (The Style movement) by Bertus Mulder (director) and his son Marco Mulder (camerawork and editing) is being jointly programmed by Festival Designkwartier and The Hague Architecture Day.
The film offers a fantastic look at how the famous Rietveld-Schröder House came to be.

Marco Mulder’s lens has captured deeply poetic footage that allows the viewer to experience the house as if through all five senses. The film is lent depth and clarity by authentic recordings of Rietveld and Schröder’s own voices, in combination with amazing images from the archives.
Never before has the house been filmed in such a fully open and well-lit state. As a result, the house becomes more than a house: it is transformed into a spatial interplay of rooms crafted from pure genius and love. Marco Mulder proves himself capable of capturing that space and love better than anyone else.

During the festival, the film will be screened continuously in the Toussainthuis, the former home and studio of Bosboom-Toussaint, a library and a dance school.
